Journalist Carl Bernstein's books include those shown above.
New York, NY
“It's a fundamentally racist appeal that the president sees as his one path toward victory in his election effort. It is probably the most provocative and hateful set of speeches by an incumbent president in the post-war era.” -- @Carl Bernstein on Trump's 4th of July speeches.
New, alarming reporting by CNN's @Carl Bernstein: Trump's handling of highly classified calls with foreign heads of state helped convince some senior US officials "that the President himself posed a danger to the national security of the United States." http://www.cnn.com/2020/06/29/politics/trump-phone-calls-national-security-concerns/index.html
Finally Mattis has said publicly what he’s been saying in private. It’s no secret that McMaster, Kelly & Tillerson have said much the same in private – and that they believe Trump is a threat to nat’l security & unfit by temperament to be POTUS. Maybe they too will now go public.
We have now watched an armed attack, instigated by the president of the United States, on peaceful, law-abiding demonstrators exercising their Constitutional rights. All of Trump’s actions and words have etched today as a grim moment in American history.
“The question for the press, all Americans, the senators, and congressmen that needs to be raised is, are we at the mercy of a delusional, unstable president, at the moment that we have lost more lives than in any event since World War II?" -- @Carl Bernstein
Journalist Carl Bernstein says President Trump's "liberate" tweets are playing "to his base as well as to cover-up his own malfeasance and misfeasance throughout this terrible episode in our history." https://cnn.it/2XLsB1K
Jim Lehrer’s contribution to great reporting and the ethics of modern journalism is monumental. Not incidentally, he was also a wonderful raconteur, warm friend, and mentor for hundreds in our profession. Thanks, Jim. C.
"We're looking at 'Midnight Mitch' and the so-called world's greatest deliberative body, really embracing a cover-up that is there for all to see. That's what this is about." - Journalist Carl Bernstein reacts to Mitch McConnell's proposed trial rules. https://cnn.it/3asQGOD
Essential now Select congressional committee (probably from Sen. Intel) obtain transcripts/summaries/voice-printouts (like Nixon tapes) of Trump calls w/ Erdogan, Putin, Xi, et al. Already much unequivocal evidence POTUS undermined natl security for personal & political gain.
Bolton firing is latest evidence of dire crisis: in which US nat'l security is destabilized by conduct of POTUS, as recognized by our allies and enemies. Trump has shown he is incapable of a coherent presidency, or coherent governance. Only self-interest. https://www.mediaite.com/tv/carl-bernstein-blasts-trump-after-bolton-ouster-we-have-a-governing-cris...
John McCain was a truly remarkable American. Please see my profile of him, from a Vanity Fair cover story during the 2000 election campaign, at http://carlbernstein.com.
"This is worse than Watergate, because the system worked in Watergate."
"I think it's time to recognize that what we are watching in the Trump presidency is worse than Watergate," says Carl Bernstein https://cnn.it/2AALHxz
Instead of screaming into the wind about Trump's attacks on the press, let's subscribe to the Capital Gazette for $2 a week and put money behind the idea journalists aren't enemies. First 4 weeks just $0.99. Cancel whenever. Link here: https://tinyurl.com/y9l457hk. Please RT.

Woodward and Bernstein: Are we watching the lead-up to another Saturday Night Massacre? https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/nixon-fired-the-man-investigating-him-will-trump/2018/02/09/3...
Extraordinary rebuke to @Donald J. Trump and GOP enablers of coverup --via his own FBI director: “As expressed during our initial review, we have grave concerns about the material omissions of fact that fundamentally impact the memo’s accuracy,”
We may look back on tonight as the Monday Night Slaughter of the administration of justice in the United States.
(3/3)—Reporters should find out how pervasive such talk may be.
(2/3) BC of lack of ethics, competence, ‘temperament/stability.’
(1/3) Important Republicans/conservs/Intel-military hi-ups increasingly saying in private that @Donald J. Trump is unfit to be president.
The problem is not the chief of staff. The problem--dangerous beyond any modern presidency--is the president.
See my Vanity Fair cover profile of John McCain @Carl Bernstein.com--from 1999, as he prepared to run for Potus: especially relevant now.
